FAQ
What’s the difference between the GPS and OBD versions?
-
GPS Version uses GPS and built-in sensors for speed display and all core MOKUKU features.
-
OBD Version adds real-time vehicle data such as RPM, battery voltage, and fuel level (if supported).
Does MOKUKU need additional installation or wiring?
No. MOKUKU does not require permanent installation or vehicle modification. The Pro version connects wirelessly to an OBD device, and the Basic version works independently.
Is MOKUKU compatible with my car?
Most vehicles manufactured after 1996 support OBD-II. For hybrid or specific models, we recommend checking live data compatibility here:

-
Select your vehicle make, model, and year
-
Open the Live Data section
-
Check whether Vehicle Speed (Velocity), RPM, and Fuel Level are listed
The GPS version works with any vehicle.
Is MOKUKU a speedometer replacement?
No. MOKUKU prioritizes precision over mimicry. Speed data is sourced from GPS or OBD, which can be more accurate than dashboard readings. It’s meant to complement, not replace, your instrument panel.
What if I already have something plugged into my OBD-II port?
You can use an OBD splitter in most cases. MOKUKU is compatible with most ELM327-based BLE 5.0 adapters, though we haven’t tested every model on the market. We recommend using our custom OBD device, which offers higher stability and data quality than most generic adapters.
What will happen if my MOKUKU OBD version cannot connect to OBD adapter?
When the MOKUKU OBD bundle cannot connect to the OBD adapter after searching for a short period, it will automatically switch to GPS mode. In this mode:
-
RPM and fuel level will be hidden, since they require OBD data.
-
Vehicle speed will continue to display based on GPS readings.
-
All other functions of the unit remain fully operational.
So even without the OBD adapter, you can still reliably see your speed and use all other features.
